For more than 48 years, Uratex remains to be the country’s industry leader in manufacturing quality foams and mattresses that help everyone sleep better. As a commitment to excellence, it continues to innovate itself by using the latest technologies to deliver exceptional comfort and support in each mattress.
The Uratex promise, to produce high-quality mattresses Filipinos can afford, began when Robert and Natividad Cheng established the Polyfoam Chemical Corporation. In its perseverance to pursue this vision, it invested in world-class research and development to produce high grade foam. The brand grew to become the most recognized household name in the bedding industry, making it synonymous with quality.
The Cheng family inaugurated the RGC Group of companies to cater to the growing demands of other industries. This paved way into offering specialized foam for electronics and automotive seating. It also embarked in supplying textile, food packaging, and automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) products.
Today, Uratex continues to give Filipinos comfortable and affordable mattresses with 21 plants nationwide. It also serves as a key supplier to country’s prominent companies from the hotel and furniture industry.

Timeline

1968
Robert and Naty Cheng began their dream to give every Filipino a comfortable mattress by establishing the Polyfoam Chemical Corporation. This gave birth to the brand "Uratex" to provide affordable, quality mattresses made of polyurethane foam.

1974
The Polyfoam Chemical Corporation started manufacturing coil springs for the local bedding industry.

1975
Collaboration with the Government’s Car Development Program paved way for the opportunity to produce foam for the automotive industry.

1983
The Polyfoam Chemical Corporation developed the RGC Textile Manufacturing Corporation. Originally named as “Mayer Velvet Corporation,” its first product was a velvet fabric for furniture using German machinery.

1989
As the RGC Foam Group focused on strengthening innovations by establishing their Foam Research and Development Center in their Muntinlupa Plant, the RGC Textile Mfg. Corp. was developing specialized BOA fabric for locally manufactured stuffed toys.

1992
A new plant was built in Marikina.

1994
Uratex continued to serve other industries by developing Uratex Monoblock chairs and tables. It formed Roberts AIPMC to cater to the automotive industry, specifically supplying an integrated production system for automotive and industrial parts assembly such as Evercool Radiators and Tiger Leaf Springs.

1997
In compliance with the Technical Agreement of Futaba Japan, Roberts AIPMC in expanding its product lines by manufacturing mufflers for the local automotive industry.

1998
Uratex partners with Inoac Japan to form Inoac Philippines Inc., focusing on specialized foam for electronics.

1999
Uratex was granted ISO 9001 certification for its group of companies, an international standard ensuring that it passed stringent conditions for quality assurance management. As it strengthened the quality of foam products, it also started offering automotive seating assembly for the automotive industry. As the brand grew stronger, it expanded its reach in Visayas as it opened its Camarines Sur plant.

2000
State-of-the-Art foam factory, capable of manufacturing highly technical grades with superior cell structure and foam properties, was established in Plaridel, Bulacan

2001
In its commitment to quality and innovation, the RGC Foam Group opened their Bulacan plant building its capacity to manufacture high technical grades of foam with superior cell structure. Also, it launched the brand ReadyWrap, plastic food containers that are safe, microwaveable and convenient for everyday use.

2007
Uratex took the sleeping experience to greater heights as it introduced the Uratex Premium Mattress, a fine piece of fine craftsmanship that combines the latest sleep technologies with luxurious fabric for superior comfort and support in every mattress.

2008
Reader's Digest first awarded Uratex as one of the Philippines’ Choice for Trusted Brands. Also, Uratex opened their plant located in Mandaue, Cebu.

2012
Uratex inaugurated its plant in Pangasinan as well as its first plant in Mindanao, based in Davao.

2015
Uratex continues to give Filipinos comfortable and affordable mattresses as it expands its reach, with 21 plants nationwide including its latest plants based in Iloilo and Cagayan de Oro.
